Subscription issues

On this page you will find tips for correcting some issues associated with receiving emails from the Conference and/or your District.

No Longer Receiving Emails from your District or the Conference?

If you used to receive District and/or Conference emails but are no longer getting them, please check your Spam folder. If you find the missing emails in your spam folder, right click on the item and choose "not spam". (Instructions for Comcast/Xfinity are below.)

If you don’t find any emails in the Spam folder, perhaps you have unsubscribed. You can re-subscribe to conference and district emails by using the “Sign up for newsletters” function at the bottom of this webpage. This is a multi-step process and allows you to choose which emails you want to receive. (Not sure which emails you want to receive? Click here for Conference publications details.)

Also be certain to add the email addresses of your District Office and District Superintendent to your Contacts which may alleviate the problem. You can also add the email addresses for the e-newsletters - these end in msgs-neumc-XXXX@brtapp.com. For example the UMCatalyst is sent from "msgs-neumc-119@brtapp.com."

Comcast and emails going to Spam:

Comcast/Xfinity differs from many email providers in that it doesn't have a "whitelist" function. If you have subscribed but cannot find emails from the Conference or District, you might find them in your Spam folder. If so, you need to mark them as "not spam" which returns them to your Inbox:

  • In XFINITY Connect, open the Spam folder from the left navigation pane.
  • Check the box next to the message(s) that is not spam.
  • Click the Not Spam button at the top of the page. or
  • The email will be moved back to your inbox.

Note: You can also right-click on the email in the Spam folder and select Not Spam. If you still have a problem with emails going to your spam folder, contact Comcast's Security Assurance group at 1-888-565-4329 and ask if there is a blocking issue with the sender's domain: brtapp.com and NEUMC.org.

Another method is to override security filters, but please note that this does allow potentially harmful emails to come to your inbox. In your email screen:

  • Click on the Gear Icon on the right side of the black bar near the top of the screen
  • Select “Email Settings”
  • Under Mail, select “Advanced Settings”
  • Under SPAM Filters, select “Override Security Filters”
