Boats on the Sea of Galilee

Views from the Sea of Galilee toward the shore.

Bishop LaTrelle Easterling preaches from a boat on the Sea of Galilee.

The pilgrims from India share a hymn in their language.

Bishop Sudarshana Devadhar and Rev. Erica Robinson-Johnson present a gift to Bishop Easterling: A carving of Jesus washing his disciple's feet. It represents, the bishop said, that she is always a servant leader.

The olive wood carving, made by a Palestinian craftsman, presented to Bishop Easterling.

In 1986, this 1st century AD boat was found on the Northwest shore of Galilee. While it is not Jesus' boat, Bishop Devadhar said it will help pastors envision the boats that Jesus did use.

The wood of the boat was so fragile, it had to be encased in foam to be recovered.
