The Rev. David Allen Hollenbeck, 86, died in Chelmsford, MA, on September
27, 2022.  He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Catharine (Baker)
Hollenbeck, and his sons, Brian (Jacqueline), Kevin (Melissa), Lee (Allyson),
Rodney (Kristen), and their mother, Dorothy (Reed) Hollenbeck, and his
stepson, Greg (Kathy) Baker.  David adored his grandchildren, Amanda (Chris)
Ellms, Robin, Erik (Kiera), Corissa, Christopher, and Jonathan Hollenbeck,
Lauren, Devon (Allison), and Madeline Hurst, Deanna Baker, and his great
grandson Christopher Hurst.
 
David was born on May 14, 1936, in Watertown, NY, to Edgar and Marion
(Hodge) Hollenbeck.  His older brother, Charles, predeceased him.  David
attended schools in Cape Vincent, NY, graduating from high school in 1954
and Syracuse University in 1958.  David loved basketball and played on his
championship high school and Syracuse University teams.  He graduated
from Boston University School of Theology in 1962.  In 1956, he married
Dorothy (Reed) Hollenbeck and had four sons.
 
David was a retired United Methodist minister and served churches in Fall
River, Bridgewater, Springfield, Andover, MA; Hope, RI; Worcester, and
Arlington, MA.  He also served on the staff at Rolling Ridge Retreat and
Conference Center in North Andover.
 
David was a gentle giant of a man. He loved golf, poker, and cooking.  His
ability to always remember your name was uncanny.  He enjoyed traveling in
his retirement with his wife, Catharine.  He will be greatly missed by his
family and friends.
 
A memorial service for David will be held at Ballardvale United Church, 23
Clark Road, Andover, MA, on Saturday, October 22, 2022, at 10:00 a.m.  For
those unable to attend, the service will be live streamed on the Ballardvale
United Church Facebook page.
