Soper, B. Val Jean, on October 26, 2008, in Concord, MA, previously of Onset, MA and Wauneta, NE, in her 81st year. Loving wife of the late Rev. Harry Soper, much loved mother of Richard B. of Lynn, David W. and Elizabeth A. Conroy of Tyngsboro, Walter H. and Elizabeth A. Fagan of S. Natick, John C. and Jamie Murray of Ware and Ruth L. and Artie Crocker of Needham. Beloved grandmother of Liam Wesley Soper of Tyngsboro. Val Jean is also survived by her loving brothers; Caroll Wheeler, MD of Greeley, CO, Gerald and Frieda Wheeler of Louisville, KY and Wesley and Marjorie Wheeler of Wauneta, NE as well as many cherished cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends. Val Jean was predeceased by her parents, Walter and Laura (Fanning) Wheeler of Wauneta, NE and brothers Keith, Francis and Donald and sisters Opal, Velma, Marvel and LaDene. Val Jean was active in the Methodist Church her entire life and served in many church communities throughout MA. She was a leader in the United Methodist Women for many years. She dedicated her life to her family, friends, church and social justice. Val Jean was a retired nurse and longstanding member of MNA, a retired teacher from the Chelsea public schools, and a member of AFT. Funeral Thursday October 30, at 10:30 am in the Wesley United Methodist Church, 270 Gifford St., Falmouth, MA. Visiting hours Wednesday from 4- 7 pm at the Wareham Village Funeral Home, 5 Center St, Wareham, MA. Interment Agawam Cemetery, Wareham, MA. A memorial service and celebration of life will be held at The Deaconess Abundant Life Community, 80 Deaconess Rd, Concord, MA on November 1st at 2 pm.
