In preparation for the effects of Hurricane Henri, Bishop Sudarshana Devadhar has named Pastor David Arruda temporary emergency coordinator. Pastor Arruda can be reached via cell phone at 508-207-3117.
As of this morning, a hurricane watch has been issued from New Haven, CT, eastward to Sagamore Beach, MA, including Nantucket, Martha's Vineyard and Block Island, according to the National Hurricane Center. Find more from the NHC
If your church or parsonage experiences damage due to Hurricane Henri, contact Pastor Arruda and your District Superintendent. Note: The Seacoast District is being covered by Commonwealth West District Superintendent Megan Stowe, who can be reached via the district office at 508-853-1895.
If your church has Relief Supply Kits (Cleaning Buckets, Health Kits) available, please contact Pastor Arruda at pastordavidarruda@verizon.net with your church name and location and the number of kits available. UMCOR provides guidelines on how to assemble the kits and a list of contents for each.
Bishop Devadhar expressed his gratitude to Pastor Arruda for bringing his expertise to the role of temporary emergency coordinator for Hurricane Henri. Pastor Arruda was an operational consultant for the Valdez Oil Spill and spent 20 years working in loss prevention, asset protection, crisis management and disaster planning before going into the ministry. He is also a former member of the Association of Industrial Security.
