Camp Aldersgate received a grant from the Champlin Foundation to build a second pavilion for our day camp, however, the grant does not cover the cost of roofing. A generous donor has covered the cost of roofing materials, but we need volunteers to help us get a roof on before the snow! Volunteers are asked to help 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 10, 2018 at 1043 Snake Hill Road, North Scituate, RI. It's a large roof, but low pitch. Many hands will make light work. RSVP to let us know you're coming.
On Nov. 4, Mechuwana hosted its annual Harvest Meal. More than 200 people attended and the event raised over $1,500. All the funds are being put toward the replacement of the roof on Asbury Theater. A big “thank you” to all who attended the event. The Mechuwana site committee would also like to thank the Youth Council for serving the meal and making the dessert.
The newly formed “Rohr Action and Contemplation Small Group” meets at 3 p.m. on the second Sunday of each month at Rolling Ridge Retreat and Conference Center. The sessions are about 90 minutes. Executive Director Lawrence Jay describes it as “a drop-in group for anyone interested in Richard Rohr or in finding a community in this spiritual-but-not-religious context in which we live.” The next meeting is Nov. 11, 2018.
