NEJ will elect two bishops at July Conference

The Northeastern Jurisdictional Conference will elect two new episcopal leaders in July 2016. The 2016 General Conference supported a legislative petition that keeps all jurisdictions at their current number of resident bishops and calls for a study during this coming quadrennium.

The Inter-Jurisdictional Committee on Episcopacy also supported retaining nine resident bishops in the NEJ this quadrennium - though their recommendation was not officially acted upon by the General Conference. Also, the Episcopal Fund budget adopted for 2016-2020 supports nine resident bishops in the NEJ.

Persons exploring nomination or persons endorsed by Annual Conferences or approved ethnic caucuses can find biography forms on the NEJ 2016 Conference webpage below the rules information. Potential nominees are asked to please review materials in advance and note the important June 20, 2016 deadline. Registration for the July 11-15 Conference is now open.

The Convo is offered to help the Conference Youth Observers to Jurisdictional Conference prepare. Other middle and high school youth are invited to gather for this chance to start up a re-organized NEJ Council on Youth.

For more information or to register, contact the Rev. Erica Robinson-Johnson, Assistant to the Bishop/Director of Connectional Ministries, at Erica@neumc.org. Adult youth workers who are interested in attending, driving, etc. are also asked to notify Rev. Robinson-Johnson.
