We live in turbulent times. As we try to come to grips with the recent terror attack in New York City, the mass shooting that took place in Las Vegas, and other violent attacks, we hear of the mass shooting that took place in a small church in Texas yesterday morning. These events erode our sense of safety, goodness and hope.
I would like to suggest that each of our churches gather together with others in our communities sometime this week, in a time of prayer and fellowship. Where there is darkness, let us offer hope and the light of God.
Please let Kelly and I know where and when your gatherings will take place and we will help get the word out to our connection. Some of you may wish to gather in ecumenical settings. Some may wish for a cluster gathering. Others may have a simple community prayer vigil. Let us all pray for peace and for all of those who have lost their lives or their loved ones. While we cannot change the events that have taken place, we can stand in solidarity with each other.
Thank you friends for your witness to the love that God offers each one. If I can assist you in any way, let me know.
Bless you, my friends,
