St. John's member Ron Kolbe harvesting the grapes.

Lucille Ball stomping grapes is one of the classic scenes from “I Love Lucy,” and might actually be fun, but you don’t have to run around a giant vat to make grape juice.
At St. John’s United Methodist Church in Dover, NH, church members have been harvesting grapes from their Peace Garden and making the juice served for Communion for the last five years – all without even taking off their shoes.
This is the second year that Ron and Margaret Kolbe have led the harvest and juice-making. Ron says he’s “more a tender of the garden” than a grape expert, but that gardening know-how, the couple’s experience canning their own marinara sauce and a team of volunteers seem to be enough.
No disrespect to Lucy, but If you want to see how it’s really done, watch the video below.
