March 03, 2023
I greet you in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and count it a high honor to preside at the 2023 session of the New England Annual Conference of The United Methodist Church.
It will be another hybrid session from June 8-10 with the in-person option at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Manchester, NH. The clergy and laity sessions will both be hybrid and held on June 7. (See registration information below.)
The theme of this year’s conference is “Draw the Circle Wider Still,” and our scripture emphasis will be Philippians 4:4-9. As we gather, we will be rejoicing in the Lord and striving to focus on practices that will promote peace and enable us to reach more people for Christ.
Joining us for this session will be Rev. Carol Lakota Eastin, a retired elder from the Illinois Great Rivers Annual Conference and Native American leader in the denomination. She will preach at our Memorial Service.
The newly elected bishop of the Upper New York Annual Conference, Bishop Héctor A. Burgos Núñez, will be our ordination preacher.
Leading Bible study by video will be Rev. Zach Holler of the West Ohio Annual Conference and Mx. Chris Paige (M.Div.) of the OtherWise Academy. And we are pleased to once again welcome Mark Miller as our music leader.
I ask that you prepare your hearts for Annual Conference by praying and learning all you can about the upcoming resolutions and new plans for our conference structure.
Please take part in the pre-conference events (information about these will be shared on the website and the e-news) and make every effort to attend the entire annual conference session.
Sincerely,
Bishop Peggy A. Johnson
