Mechuwana started the summer off with a bang, with more than 180 campers the first week – 60 of whom were missions campers from Wisconsin and Maryland. They did projects at several different homes in surrounding communities (photo above). We are very excited to announce that as of June 29, we have registered more than 750 campers for the summer – just short of our goal of 800, which we have not hit for several years. We still have openings later in the summer we would love to see you.
We also had sewing camp, elementary/middle school music camp, woods craft camp Uniquely Us camp, and Travel and Adventure camp; it was a full week. Coming up: Don’t forget our 70th celebration on July 14. Visit www.mechuwana.org to learn more and register.
Several schools have ended the school year with multiple-day retreats at Covenant Hills Christian Camp in Cabot, VT. They took advantage of the many hiking trails for nature exploring and used the waterfront for swimming, paddle boarding and kayaking. Each school designed a curriculum unique to its needs. One school had its middle school students design and implement the curriculum themselves. The Vermont Lions Club is beginning a series of three separate week-long camps for different age groups of hearing impaired children and youth. Visit our Facebook page Friends of Covenant Hills Christian Camp or www.covenanthillsvt.org for more about the camp.

During the 2018 Annual Conference, the Camp and Retreat Ministry Executive Board asked folks to share what they know about the past and present at the Conference’s camp & retreat centers. You are invited to share memories, dates, facts about “How did that happen?” regarding site committees, building projects, celebrations, photos, fundraising, people, favorite spots and any little known facts you may have. All of our sites Aldersgate, Wanakee, Rolling Ridge, Covenant Hills, and Mechuwana want to know what they don’t know!
Use the CRM Site History Form (click the link to download) to record those memories. Please email or mail the completed form to the site you’re writing about (Click here to find email/postal addresses). Questions? Contact Karen Pehrson, Chair of NEAC Camp and Retreat Ministries Executive Board, at pehrsonk@gmail.com
