Bible Study with Bishop Easterling
We are so pleased to welcome Bishop LaTrelle Easterling as our Bible Study leader for the 2022 New England Annual Conference. Bishop Easterling will share excerpts of a multi-week study, “Exploring the Nature of God,” created for the Baltimore-Washington Conference for this pivotal moment in our denomination’s history.
The BWC website describes the study (read more here):
“Globally, in our churches, we are considering the future of the denomination, what it means to be the Church, what it means to be United Methodists, and what it means to be spirit-filled Christ followers making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world in this present age.
“Our faith and our understanding of Church is often defined by how we view the nature of God. As people created in the divine image, we are called to seek an ever-growing knowledge of the nature of God and to let that knowledge shape our lives.”
The study will be available only to those attending the session in person. The study begins at 7:15 am on Friday and Saturday, June 10 and 11, 2022. The study will be held in the hotel’s Contoocook Room. You are welcome to bring your breakfast.
Bishop Easterling invites you to prepare for each day’s study by reviewing the following in advance as you are able.
For Friday’s study: Read the article John Wesley on the Character of God by James Pedlar, plus the following scriptures: Genesis 2:4b-9; Genesis 3:1-13a and 21; John 1:14-18; 1 Corinthians 13.
For Saturday’s study: Watch the Ted Talk “The Danger of a Single Story,” by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie; read the book of Exodus.
