This disaster-readiness training from the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) is designed to equip church leaders and others to help their church prepare for and assist in a natural disaster or a human-caused tragedy in your own community.  Among the topics will be lessons learned by the Newtown UMC in the wake of the 2012 shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School.

Chaos and fear can never be eliminated when faced with an overwhelming disaster,  an active shooter or other disruptive events, but knowing your options, having an emergency action plan and preparing, in advance, for a disaster CAN turn your church into a "Disaster-Ready Congregation" to limit property damage and interrupted operations, as well as save lives!

Cost: $15, includes lunch and materials
