Director of Christian Education

The DCE is responsible for envisioning, planning, organizing and implementing the educational programs for children, youth and adults. The position is 20 hours per week for the academic year (roughly mid-August through mid-June) and includes two weeks’ paid vacation. The DCE reports directly to the Pastor and partners with the Board of Education (BOE). The United Parish of Auburndale (UPA) is a theologically liberal church committed to being an “Inclusive Church, Grounded in Christian Love, Committed to Service.” In 1980 the UPA was federated, becoming both a United Methodist and United Church of Christ congregation. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Religious Education Programming Administration, Outreach and Communication QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIRED SKILLS The ideal DCE should have experience teaching and leading a church Christian Education program. The DCE should have strengths in program development, interpersonal communication, organization, creativity, and basic computer and social media skills, and should enjoy working with learners of all ages.
