JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES 1. Be the spiritual leader of the Music Ministry Team and set the tone for working as a team. 2. Conduct weekly rehearsals, Sunday morning worship, and other worship services. 3. Along with the pastor, coordinate and plan music to complement the worship service theme. 4. Coordinate singers, soloists, ensembles, etc. 5. Integrate ideas brought by the music ministry members. 6. Identify musical talent and encourage participation in the music ministry. 7. Proficiency in the technological skills necessary for a meaningful worship service. 8. Prepare music and lyric materials for projection. 9. Keep music licensing current. 10. Perform other tasks and responsibilities as assigned. 11. Develop leadership within the music ministry team to cover during vacations and/or illness.
CREDENTIALS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE 1. High school diploma or GED required. Secondary education in music preferred. 2. One to three years of experience preferred. 3. Ability to read music. 4. Knowledge of UM hymnal, Faith We Sing and other music pieces not in the hymnals. 5. Good understanding of the worship liturgy and appropriateness of music. WORKING CONDITIONS Working conditions are varied. Extended periods of standing, sitting, and leaning may be required. Frequent lifting and moving of musical equipment may also be required.
