Melanie Gordon at Discipleship Ministries has published What Every Child Should Experience: A Guide for Leaders and Teachers in United Methodist Congregations. The first section of the resoure is a comprehensive listing of scripture significant for children as they develop congnitively and theologically. The second section contains an excellent comprehensive chart that addresses the needs of children birth to age 11, and the concepts they can understand at different stages of development.
As information technology has changed, so have curricula for Sunday school. Curriculum designers are continually updating the formatting of their materials to take advantage of digital materials. While still teaching the basics of faith, curricula include DVDs, CDs, webpages, etc. as well as tried-and-true paper materials. As a general rule, the digital curricula are cheaper to order and easier to share with your teachers, musicians and leaders.
