Amahl and the Night Visitors

Teresa Stratas stars in this Christmas opera (in English) about a lame boy (Amahl) and his mother. When the Magi stop at their humble home on the way to find the Christ-child, Amahl steels some gold to help his destitute family, much to the shame of his mother. He is found out, and the understanding and kind Magi explain who the Christ-child is and why the gifts are all for him. Amahl begins to understand, returns the gold and asks to go along with the Magi on their journey.
