Gideon and his tiny army sneak into Canaan at night, frightening the Canaanites into panic and blundering. By morning Gideon is victorious. Samson's story is told with modern understanding…right down to telling a riddle at his wedding and losing his temper, much to the Philistine's later regret.

The Philistines and the Israelites are at war as usual. When the Israelites ask for a proper king, Samuel nominates Saul. Saul takes the reigns, but forgets about God, so Sam disowns him. Saul, depressed and alone, hears a prophecy and meets David who plays harp for him. When David joins the army and volunteers to fight Goliath alone, Saul agrees to let him try.
