The great Danish philosopher Soren Kierkegaard(1813-55) is generally acknowledge to be "one of the greatest thinkers of the nineteenth century." He has just often been named " the father of existentialism," because of his introduction of the ideas of " the absurd,"of "paradox," and od "despair" into modern thought. Contemporary theology can hardly be understood without reading him.
