Central MA District Announces Winter 2012 Lay Speaking Courses
 
Each course will meet on three consecutive Saturdays - March 3, 10 and 17- at 1:00 to 6:00 PM.

Description of Courses

Lay Speaking Ministries Basic Course

The Lay Speaking Ministries Basic Course focuses on the many ways lay speakers are called to be in ministry. Completion of the Basic Course is required for Lay Speaker certification.

Lay Speakers Lead in Worship - Advanced Course

This advanced course serves both the instructor and student, helping the reader become more competent in leading in worship. Learn about worship - how it has evolved over the years, how to design it, and how to lead it.

Lay Speakers Lead Bible Study - Advanced Course

This advanced course is designed to help lay speakers become versed in how to teach and lead Bible study. 

 

Important Reminder A refresher course is required every three years to remain a Local Church Lay Speaker.  To become a Certified Lay Speaker and serve outside your local congregation, you must take one advanced course and continue by taking at least one advanced course every three years.  All Local Church and Certified Lay Speakers must submit an annual report of activities to their respective charge conference For More Information and for a registration packet email bobhout@verizon.net or contact Robert Hout, Jr. at 781-647-3117

About Lay Speaking Classes

Lay Speaking classes are divided into two categories. The Basic Course provides the initial required training to become a local church lay speaker and Advanced Courses for certified lay speakers or for those wishing to move from Local to Certified. However, one does not have to be a lay speaker to participate in an Advanced Course. These courses are available for audit purposes. To become a local lay speaker, one must take the Basic Lay Speaking Course. A refresher course is required every three years to remain a Local Church Lay Speaker. To become a Certified Lay Speaker and serve outside your local congregation, you must take one advanced course and continue by taking at least one advanced course every three years. All Local Church and Certified Lay Speakers must submit an annual report of activities to their respective charge conference.
