Western Mass churches part of neighborhood revitalization event

May 04, 2015

Some 75 United Methodists from several Western Massachusetts congregations were among the 1,200 volunteers who spent Saturday, April 25, 2015, repairing 28 homes, cleaning yards and building community in a Springfield, MA, neighborhood.

In addition to the volunteer labor, Trinity Church and the United Methodist New Hope Regional Ministry each donated $10,000 to the effort.  New Hope Regional Ministry is a joint ministry of Wesley UMC, La Restauracion and Trinity UMC in Springfield, Faith UMC in Chicopee, St Paul’s UMC in Ludlow, East Longmeadow UMC, and the Brazilian Ministry.

Seven of the 28 homes were sponsored by United Methodists.  United Methodists not only joined the work effort on Saturday, but they also helped feed the volunteers.  On Friday a group from Wesley and Trinity made 1,000 sack lunches!
