 t several disasters to New England, especially in Vermont. T
 he New England Conference currently has about 100 ERTs with 
 UMCOR badges. We are in urgent need of several more ERTs to 
 help survivors of future flood/winter storm damage in NH, ME
  and Vermont. Emphasis will be put on Mud-out and debris rem
 oval tasks during this training.  What is an ERT? Most UMVIM
  teams respond to disasters in the recovery stage helping to
  rebuild and replace what was damaged by the disaster or rem
 oved during mud-out. Their job is to get people back into th
 eir homes. ERTs respond soon after emergency crews have comp
 leted search and rescue. ERTs remove yard debris, do mud-out
  (or gutting) of all water soaked and damaged goods and stru
 ctures as well as clear roofs and cover them with tarps. Onc
 e walls are bared to the studding, ERTs treat the studding a
 nd other surfaces to destroy and remove mold. Then they sani
 tize all surfaces to help prevent future outbreaks. Their jo
 b is to make the damaged house safe, sanitary and secure. ER
 Ts work when the media is still present letting the world an
 d our churches know that The United Methodist Church is ther
 e from the beginning to the end. ERTs have to wear authorize
 d badges or Emergency personnel will not let them in the flo
 oded area at this early stage. The New England Conference an
