Haiti Health Kit Information
As we continue to collect Health Kits throughout New England, we wanted to review some essential information for our collection and shipment to Mission Central.
All health kits need to be delivered to the designated drop off locations by Friday 2/26/10. Please remember to contact the drop off site directly regarding drop off times, as they may vary.
Kits should be complete. The $1.00 to cover the cost of toothpaste and $1.00 to help with transportation costs should not be placed in the individual kits. Please place the money in a separate envelope inside the shipping box (a check made out to UMCOR would be preferable).
Health Kit Items
Place these items inside a sealed one-gallon plastic bag.
1 hand towel (15" x 25" up to 17" x 27", No kitchen towels)
1 washcloth
1 comb (large and sturdy, not pocket-sized)
1 nail file or fingernail clippers (no emery boards or toenail clippers)
1 bath-size bar of soap (3 oz. and up)
1 toothbrush (single brushes only in original wrapper, No child-size brushes)
6 adhesive plastic strip sterile bandages
(NOTE: $1.00 to purchase toothpaste should be included in a separate envelope as noted above. UMCOR Sager Brown is now purchasing toothpaste in bulk to be added to health kits before shipping to ensure that the product does not expire before they are sent.)
Important Kit Assembly Information
All items included in kits must be NEW items.
All emergency kits are carefully planned to make them usable in the greatest number of situations. Since strict rules often govern product entry into international countries, it is important that kits contain only the requested items-nothing more.
Do NOT include any personal notes, money or additional materials in the kits. These things must be painstakingly removed and will delay the shipment.
Packing Kits
Box Weight. Each packed box cannot exceed 66 pounds.
All kits delivered to one of the designated drop off sites will be picked up in early March to be transported to Mission Central. We will not be able to pick up kits that are not delivered to one of the designated drop off sites so please review the list of drop off sites and bring your kits to the location closest to you.

Call for Prayer and Action for Immigration Reform
During the month of February, faith communities are called to open their eyes to the suffering of immigrants in our neighborhood and to raise their voice for humane and comprehensive immigration reform.
As the Congress prepares legislative agendas for the year, it is critical to remind our leaders of our voice for security and justice for undocumented immigrants and their families. Families are still being separated by deportation and lives are broken through local enforcement. On February 10, more than half million post cards from faith communities urging the Congress to pass compassionate and just immigration reform will be delivered to the Capitol in D.C.
United Methodist Church has long been an advocate for undocumented immigrants among us. We are asking our fellow United Methodists to consider participating in the following actions during the month of February.
- Study and educate what United Methodist Church say about Immigration. For information, Click Here
2. Host a prayer vigil in your community. Invite other faith communities and immigrant community to share the stories. Thousands of faith communities have been hosting the vigil throughout the last year and this year. Please visit http://www.interfaithimmigration.org/ for more information.
3. Participate in sending e-post card to your representatives. Please visit the above site to participate in this action.
4. Please contact We Chang for worship material and media release assistance. pastor@fumcmanchester.org
